My name is Neil Vanderschaaf. I am the owner and sole employee of this firm. I started this business in April of 2014 but my involvement with the piano goes back many years.
When I was 4 I began piano lessons. I quit briefly and then began taking again when I reached 3rd grade. After that I did not quit until I got my B.A. from the University of Iowa with a major in music/piano performance. While I was in college I met and married Ann Knickel who was also studying piano. She is now a successful private piano teacher in the Round Rock, TX area ( Ann Vanderschaaf Piano Studio )
After receiving my BA degree I continued in the academic world obtaining a BSEE (Summa Cum Laude) from Southern Methodist University and a MSEE from Purdue University. I worked for many years as an Electrical Engineer but now have returned to my early love of pianos but with a twist. Instead of pursuing performing I am now learning all that I can about the insides of a piano so that I can work to bring out the best sounds and performing capabilities a given piano can be coaxed to produce. One step in that journey included enrolling and graduating from the Randy Potter School of Piano Technology.
I am also an associate member of the Piano Technicians Guild working towards the Registered Piano Technician designation. Recently I was awarded the piano tuning contract for the Round Rock ISD. I am looking forward to the extra exposure it will give me to a wider variety of pianos.
This is a pretty rudimentary web page. It will be changing to something much more sophisticated in the near future.
If you are in need of piano work, please email me of call using the address/number listed above. I will be happy to discuss what I can do to help you out with your particular piano needs.
